Paddling in Jackman, Maine
Jackman is home to one of the most well-known canoe trips in the country. The Moose River Bow trip is a unique, scenic route that takes paddlers through some very remote sections of western Maine. Unlike many paddling trips, the bow trip does not require a shuttle. With strategically placed portages, adventurers can make the trip as a loop. The bow trip is 34 miles long and requires camping overnight to complete the whole trip.
Another trip paddlers can take is the Moose River-Long Pond trip. This 6 mile trip requires a shuttle but can be completed in one day.
Sandy Stream is another fun trip for paddlers in Jackman. This 4-mile paddle starts on the Sandy Stream bridge on the Holeb road. This is a fun trip that is best done when the water levels are high.
