Your Jackman Maine Fall Outdoor Guide

Cozy Cove Cabins Welcomes Fall Sportsmen!

The Fall season, with all the vibrant colors it brings....what a beautiful time of year. The days are still warmed by the sun but the evenings are cool. It is such a great opportunity to be outdoors and enjoy the Great North woods of Maine.

The acres of wilderness in the Jackman region provide for ATV riding and exploration, HIKING, MOUNTAIN BIKING, and even WHITE WATER RAFTING. But in reality, Fall is mainly for the HUNTER.

Then after a hard day of play, come home to one our warm cabins at Cozy Cove Cabins to enjoy a home cooked dinner or a peaceful fall sunset and relax.

HUNTING AROUND JACKMAN

The northwestern woods and mountains surrounding Jackman area are noted to have some of the best hunting opportunities for wildlife. The thousand of acres of uninhabited forests make hunting for WHITE TAIL DEER, BLACK BEAR, MOOSE, COYOTE, SNOWSHOE HARE, WATERFOWL, RUFFLED GROUSE all a challenge and an adventure. With the use of a compass or GPS, you can navigate our woods to find that perfect Buck. Or hire one of the experienced guides available in the Jackman region. We would be happy to put you in contact with one.

Getting closer to those remote areas is easier than you think...Abandoned logging trails and roads can get you close to those remote areas with your truck or a jeep. Or bring your ATV and go really deep as our ATV trails are open through Mid November.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW!

Moose hunting in Maine is by permit only. Only the lucky ones win the lottery for permit! And many of those with a permit get their Moose in the Jackman Region!

Deer season begins in November and continues into December with Archery or Muzzleloader.

Black Bear season opens in September and goes through November.

Bird season begins in October for Ruffed Grouse, Quail, Pheasant, and woodcock. We are dog friendly.

Snowshoe Hare and Small game are abundant in the region and a great adventure for any hunter, with or without a dog.

Regulations: Please visit Maine.gov for specific hunting and trapping information or get your Maine hunting license online.

Note: In the Jackman Region, there are hundreds of square miles of private land available for your enjoyment. Please show respect to these private landowners who are providing free access and treat the land as if it were your own.

ATV AROUND JACKMAN

ATV trails in the region are open through Mid November. SO take advantage of the great weather and come on up to enjoy the miles of designated ATV trails. When you stay with us at Cozy Cove Cabins, you can ride from your cabin as access trails are just 300 yards away.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW!

PLEASE stay on the trails, use the bridges, don’t make bootleg trails and please respect "NO ATV" signs.

Save on Gas:If you book 2 or more reservations at Cozy Cove Cabins within a 45 day period, you can store your ATV trailer here. Hurry! Space is limited.

OTHER THINGS TO DO AROUND JACKMAN

If you are not a hunter OR ride ATVs, fall is an awesome time for other great sports such as mountain biking, hiking, or just wildlife photography. The days and evenings may cooler but the warm sun will keep you smiling.

Enjoy the colors of autumn, the crisp clean air, and the views from atop our many mountains.

Whatever sport you enjoy in the Jackman region, DO NOT forget your camera as this is the time of natural beauty as the hills come alive with color and change.

As a reminder to Non-Hunters, use caution when out in the wilderness. If you are not a hunter, wear orange anyhow!
